Hal Dodd Angell

Boatswain's Mate
Third Class

Port Orchard, Washington

Hal Dodd Angell, 86, Dec. 3, 1927 - Nov. 29, 2014

Hal passed at the home of his son following a battle with lung cancer. Born in NC to Hiawatha and Nannie Angell, at age 17 he joined the Navy during World War II, where he served with distinction. After being discharged in Bremerton at war’s end, he returned home, then 15 months later re-enlisted, making a career of Naval service. Hal was again decorated for Korea and returned to Kitsap in 1960 where he would spend the remainder of his life.

Once retired from the Navy and Polaris Missile Program Bangor, he worked three decades at PSNS. A loyal member of FRA VFW American Legion and DAV, he was always a sailor at heart.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Denise; parents; brothers, Paul, Cecil and Wiley; as well as sisters, Irene, Bessie and Nikki. He is survived by son, Hal Jr.; and sisters, Gilma and Mabel of North Carolina.

Hal and Denise will be interned together this spring. It is peacetime for them now ... may they rest eternally.
