John Ryan Forrester

Mr. John Ryan Forrester, 1st Class Storekeeper, U.S. Navy Ret., 72, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Forrester had been a resident here for the past 27 years, coming here from Norfolk, Va. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
He met his wife of almost 53 years in Norfolk, Va., while trying to find a friend's apartment.
Mr. Forrester proudly served his country for 30 years in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Chilton, Surgrp3, USS Chipola, USS Tutuila, USS Vulcan AR-5, USS Leo Aka-60, USS Skagit Aka-105, USS Union-Aka 106, USS Orion Asa 18, USS Tidewater AP-31 and the USS Beabe DDE 471.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Forrester of Panama City; five daughters, Elizabeth Ryan Forrester of Citrus Heights, Calif., Kathleen Persichini of Pace, Fla., Beatty Landingham of Caryville, Fla., Lisa Ryan Goodwin of Norfolk, Va., and Melissa Lea Forrester of Hollywood, Fla.; one son, John Thomas Forrester of Panama City, Fla.; three sisters, Eloise Moore, Patricia Laramore and Sharon Davis, all of Panama City; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. T.A. Green officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.
