Robert E. Hickenbottom
Bob Hickenbottom served aboard Skagit from 1949 to 1950 as a Disbursing Clerk (DK).
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday at Andreason's Cremation and Burial Service in Springfield for Robert Eugene "Bob" Hickenbottom of Eugene, who died May 10 of cancer at age 74.
He was born June 19, 1932 in Merna, Neb., to Larry and Velma (Lutes) Hickenbottom. He married Candi Hickenbottom on Nov. 29, 1985 in Yakima, Wash. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service, and was a manager for a number of employers, including a bowling alley, a rental car agency and an Eagle lodge.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas, of Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters, Angela Baker of Roseburg, Amanda Riddle of Eugene, and Cindy Dolinger of Spokane; a brother Charles of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His son, Forrest, died previously.
