Retired Naval Reserves Cmdr. Daniel Richard Hild, 78, of Heritage Harbour, died of respiratory failure Thursday June 29, 1995 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
A native of Jarrettsville, Cmdr. Hild graduated in 1934 from Eastern High School in Washington, D.C., in 1938 from American University and in 1942 from the Officer Candidate School at the Naval Academy.
A career military officer, he received the Bronze Star for meritorious service.
He retired in 1968 and moved to Heritage Harbour nine years ago.
He was a member of the Retired Officers Association's Central New Jersey chapter and enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are his wife, Diane "Dee" Hild; a daughter, Patricia D. Laurance of Charlottesville, Va.; a son, Charles Richard Hild of Chantilly, Va.; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Chapel at the Naval Academy. Inturnment with military honors will follow at the Naval Academy Columbarium. Arrangements are by John M. Taylor Funeral Home.

Diane Steers "Dee" Hild, 78, of Annapolis, died of heart failure Sept. 10, 1996 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Mrs. Hild lived in Marlboro, N.J., from 1968 to 1988 and moved to Heritage Harbor about 8 years ago. A native of Washington, D.C., she was a member of the Class of 1935 at Roosevelt High School. She worked for the former Garfinckel's and Woodward and Lothrop department stores in Washington from 1935 to 1942.
Subsequently, she married Daniel R. Hild, a Navy officer who retired as a Commander. He died in June 1995 after 53 years of marriage. She traveled with him during his military career for 27 years....
