Jay D. Anderson, 84, passed away October 6, 2018 at his home in Independence, MO He was born in Olathe, KS on December 17, 1933 to Dr. Orville E Anderson (Dentist) and Catherine (Blackford) Anderson. He attended school in Olathe and graduated high school in 1952 in Council Grove, KS. He joined the Navy during the Korean War where he was a signalman aboard the U.S.S. Skagit. In 1960 he returned to Kansas City, MO where he worked for the Automobile Club of Missouri, there he met his wife Stella. In 1963 he leased the City Service and later Gulf service station located at 63rd & Paseo. Five years later he leased Anderson Skelly Service on Pershing Road just west of Union Station. He was President of the Service Station Dealers Association for two years in the late 60’s. In 1977 he founded A & B Automotive Service Center located on Southwest Blvd on the Westside of Kansas City, MO he managed it until it closed in 1999, For the next five years he worked for the transportation department at Adesa Auto Auction in Lee’s Summit, MO. He retired in 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Stella of 57 years, daughter Julie L. Borgman, grandson Brandon L. Borgman, his twin brother Ray E Anderson (Betty) of Marion, N.C., brother Jerry Anderson of Holly Hills, FL his orange cat, Oliver and Miss Kitty. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lyle B. Martin Nazareth, PA. sister Betty Russell, Creve Coeur, MO brother Floyd E Martin, Sterling, VA and sister Patricia Mummert, Olathe KS and numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved white cat Chevy who met him at the Rainbow Bridge.

At his request there will be no services. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Kansas & Missouri. Special thanks to Dylan Werth M.D. and Crossroads Hospice for their compassionate care.
