Robert D. “Bob” Keller, 75, of Tower Hill, died Friday, March 14, 2008 in his residence. He was born December 17, 1932 in Moweaqua, the son of Norman J. and Myrtle A. Sidwell Keller.
Bob had lived in Tower Hill since 1952. He served in the U. S. Navy aboard USS Skagit as a BTFN (Boiler Tender) from 1956 to 1957, and worked in the Power House at Firestone, retiring in 1995.
Bob was a member of Knobs Baptist Church, Tower Hill. He served on the Tower Hill Village board for 9 years, and was the mayor of Tower Hill for 5 of those years. He loved scrap booking with news articles, pictures, etc. out of the local newspapers. He enjoyed going to Navy reunions in various states for the past few years.
Bob loved his family, friends, people, and the outdoors.
Robert D. Keller and Mary Lou Boyer were united in holy matrimony on February 19, 1956 in Pana. Bob is survived by his wife: Mary Lou Keller, Tower Hill, IL; three daughters: Pam Rodman & husband Lyle, Moweaqua, IL; Judy Van Matrie & husband Doug, Dietrich, IL; Robin Williams & husband Ray, Assumption, IL; 6 grandchildren: Holli Churchill, Trent Rodman, Jamie Houchins & husband Tim, Jennifer Dowell, Ryan Snyder, & Rusty Snyder; 5 great grandchildren: Trey & Maycee Churchill; Ayden Snyder; and Aaron & Alyson Houchins; brother: James Keller, Big River, CA and by his sister, Betty Vits, Oconee, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Norman “Pete” Keller.
Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery with graveside military rites by VFW/American Legion/AmVets Honor Guard, Pana.
Memorials may be made to Knobs Baptist Church, Tower Hill or Pana Community Hospital Foundation for Hospice.
