Paul B. Milbrodt, 67, of Moville died suddenly Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating. There was no visitation. Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home in Sioux City is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Milbrodt was born March 15, 1931, in Akron, Iowa, the son of Herman and Meta (Frerichs) Milbrodt. He was raised in the Akron area. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Skagit AKA-105. He married Helen E. Erickson on Aug. 1, 1951, in Akron. The couple farmed in the Akron, Hinton and Westfield, Iowa areas from 1954 to 1962. They moved to Sioux City in 1982, where he farmed for many years. He was also employed as a truck driver with Joe Rosenthal & Sons at the stockyards. She died July 17, 1983, in Omaha, Neb.

He then married Patricia J. (Androy) Horton on May 20, 1988, in Sioux City. The couple moved to Moville in 1988.

He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church, the Teamsters Union Local 383, the American Legion Post 724 and the Veterans of Foreign War, both in Brunsville, Iowa, and the Independent Order of Forresters.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Matthew and Laurie of Kansas City, Mo. and Mark A. and Carla of Akron; three daughters and their husbands, Paula J. and Luther Thoresen of Ruthven, Iowa, Carla J. and Guy Lennan of Lee's Summit, Mo. and Trish and Larry Jones of Sioux City; four brothers, Henry of Sioux Falls, S.D., George and his wife Marge of Hinton, Iowa, Robert of Sioux City and Charles and his wife Rita of Akron; five sisters, Ruth Heubrook of Hawarden, Iowa, Vera Hansen of Sioux City, Dorothy and her husband Rodney Lane of Meckling, S.D., Mary and her husband John Miller of Rock Valley, Iowa and Edith and her husband James Small of Akron; 14 grandchildren, Benjamin, Jessica and Alena Thoresen, Leah, Nathan, Sara, Cody, Christopher, Eric and Shawn Milbrodt, Skyler, Jordan and Cady Lennan and Todd Butters; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and sisters; and a grandson, Troy Butters. Pallbearers will be his nieces.
