Johnnie L. Pavlica
Johnnie Lee Pavlica, 84, of Temple, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011 in a Temple care facility. Services were held Saturday, Nov. 12 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Temple, with the Rev. Ranjan Cletus officiating. Burial followed at Bellwood Memorial Park, Temple, with military honors.
Mr. Pavlica was born Feb. 10, 1927 in Ocker, Texas to George and Frances Adamek Pavlica. He married Georgia Sula on April 24, 1954.
He attended Lost Prairie School, joined the Navy at age 17, and served aboard the U. S.S. Skagitt in the Asiatic Pacific Area from August 1944 to November 1946. Upon returning home, he farmed with his family. He was later employed with Boulevard Glass Co., Temple Tile Co., and retired after 17 years in the engineering department at Scott & White Hospital.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, S. P. J. S. T. Lodge #47, and American Legion Post 133 of Temple.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Susan Foster (Dan) of Cameron, and two sons Gary Pavlica (Mary) of Los Angeles, Calf. and Randall Pavlica (Terri) of Flower Mound; two sisters, Martha Palla and Irene Beran, both of Temple; grandsons Troy Foster and wife Amanda of Anna, Ryan Foster and wife Rebekah, Arvada, Colo., Cody Carlile, Flower Mound and John Francis "Jake" Pavlica of Los Angeles; granddaughters Bess Foster Basonic and husband Matthew of Temple, Lindsey and Kylie Pavlica of Flower Mound and Shannon Foster of Cameron; and three great-grandchildren, Peityn, Sage and Quinn of Anna.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church building fund, 1018 S. 7th St., Temple, TX, 76504, the National Parkinson's Foundation or the charity of choice.
Scanio-Harper Funeral Home of Temple was in charge of arrangements
