Wayne Pettit, 66, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Pettit was born Oct. 11, 1942, in Leon, Iowa, to Eddie and Violet Pettit. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam aboard USS Skagit in the ship's office as a PN 3 (Personnelman 3rd Class) and later aboard USS Bryce Canyon AD 36.
After leaving the Navy Wayne worked as a supervisor in tech support. He loved to raise Great Danes and spend time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dora Clevenger.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Packard of Amarillo; a son, Cameron Pettit of Amarillo; a sister, Janice Black of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Roger, Matthew, Ryan, Taylor, Lexi, Jared, Loren Lee and Cameron James.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice Care of the Southwest, 1301 S. Coulter St., Suite 404, Amarillo, TX 79106.
