William Thomas "Bill" Sitten, Sr., 79, passed away peacefully Monday, July 28, 2008 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday at Community Presbyterian Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park. The Rev. Diane Frank will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Heartland Hospice, 115 Arkwright Landing, Macon 31210 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 277 Martin Luther King Blvd., Macon 31201.

The family can be contacted at the residence and wants to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Coliseum Medical Center and to our special friend, Hazel Thurmond, for their professional and loving care.

Mr. Sitten was born in Albertville, AL on July 16, 1929. He served with the United States Navy for twenty-seven years, assigned to USS Skagit from 1952 to 1954 as a Storekeeper.

Mr. Sitten was a Member of Community Presbyterian Church and an ordained Elder. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Grand Lodge of Scotland. He served those in need at the Tattnall Square Clothes Closet and Meals on Wheels for many years.

Mr. Sitten was loved by all those whose lives he touched. He loved and was devoted to his family.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Priscilla (Patty) Edwards Sitten; his son, W. Thomas (Becky) Sitten, Jr. of Macon; four grandchildren, Kimmy (Jeremy) Jones of Sharpsburg, Tommy (Tiffany) Sitten of Culloden, Krista Sitten of Lizella and Andy Sitten of Macon; his great grandsons, Thomas Lawson Jones and James Carter Jones; his brother, John Edward (Brenda) Sitten of Hendersonville, TN; brother-in-law, Don Edwards of Macon; nieces, Marla Sitten of Mt. Juliette, TN, Elaine (Don) VanCleave of Birmingham, AL; nephew, Scott (Ginni) Edwards of Comer, GA; great nieces, Rachel VanCleave of Nashville, TN, Allison and Hannah Grace VanCleave of Birmingham, AL and Isabel Edwards of Comer, GA.
