Layton Ferrell Stanton, Jr, was born in Cookeville, Tennessee January 15, 1924.

He joined the Navy on March 12, 1943, and received his basic training at USNTS Great Lakes, Illinois. He served aboard the USS Gantner (DE-60) prior to reporting aboard Skagit in May, 1945 where he served as a Radarman.

After the war, he returned to Cookeville and attended Tennessee Tech to finish and recieve his degree, BBA. While in college, Layton married Willeen Walker of Cookeville on August 27, 1947, they had 5 children, and 8 grandchildren.

He retired from Dupont after 33 years, working in Nashville and Atlanta.

Layton passed away March 11,1996 and was laid to rest beside his wife of 47 years back home in Cookeville,Tennesee.
