During the period from 15 September to 1 November 1967, Skagit's assignment was to move more than 6,700 tons of combat supplies from DaNang to Hue some 70 miles north, up the Song Huong River, also known as the Perfume River.
The ship anchored 2,000 yards off the mouth of the river, and used her boats to transport everything from cement to pretzels and beer.
