ELKHART, Ind. Wilbur E. "Windy" Wysong, 75, 54203 Southwood Drive, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Elkhart General Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born April 18, 1928, in Goshen, to Hershel and Ethel (Dykes) Wysong.
He married Phyllis J. Carpenter on Sept. 6, 1959, in Elkhart.

He was an utility technician chief and the owner and operator of Windy's Service and Installation in Elkhart for 35 years.

He was a veteran of the Navy and served in World War II and Korean War, along with 24-plus years in the Naval Reserve Service. He was a past commander for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1106, was a life member of VFW Post 88, a member of Fleet Reservation Association, SeaBee's reserve unit, Elkhart Moose Lodge No. 599, American Society of Sanitary Engineering, U.S. Department of Labor Master Plumbers and was a licensed master plumber and a former member of Indiana State Plumbing Commission.

He was also a certified diver and home inspector, a former Scoutmaster for Troop 69 and past sponsor and Cub Scout master for Beardsley School Cub Pack and a former instructor and vocational teacher at EACC.

Surviving him are his wife; a son, Terry (Tomii) Wysong, Fort Meyers Beach, Fla.; five daughters, Patricia (Donald) Griffey, Diane Kershner and Debra (Peter) Russell, all of Elkhart, Sally Webber, Fort Meyers, Fla., and Bobette (Dennis) Graves, Cape Coral, Fla.; 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Billings Funeral Home, Goshen.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dick Dunn officiating.

Cremation will follow services and military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 19.
